The moon of the Clan

The moon of the Clan: is one of nicknames of Al Abbas son of Imam Ali bin Abi Taleb a.s. (the commander of faithful). The Arabs gave him this nickname because he was very handsome.

This picture is telling a moment of Karbala's war in that days. When The children of Imam Hussain were so thirsty, Al Abbas asked his brother Imam Hussain to bring the water for them.

At that time, no one can reach the water because of the enemies who want to kill Imam Hussain. but Al Abbas was a hero and he fought them, then he reached the water from the river. He was so thirsty, 3 days or more without water, and the sun of Karbala was so hot. but he never drank water, he said that he should bring the water for his brother Imam Hussain and his children before he drink. He promised them that he will bring it.

He said his famous poem:

يا نفس من بعد الحسين هوني
وبعده لا كنت أن تكوني
هذا حسين وارد المنون
وتشربين بارد المعين
تا الله ما هذا فعال ديني
ولا فعال صادق اليمين
